North Yorkshire Didge Club
In the clubs own words:
"We welcome anyone who plays or wants to play this amazing Australian Aboriginal instrument, beginners and seasoned players alike.
We have a very informal atmosphere with workshops and can lend you a didge for the evening. Sometimes we have performances featuring guest players, and best of all its free."
Have a look at their website
, in it you will find information on forthcoming events, the annual didge camp, rhythm examples, photos and more.
2008 saw the first summer camp for NYDC and another one is planned for 2009. Great fun was had by all and to top it of the club put a song together with accompanying video - all available to listen and view on the website.
If you are just starting out with the didge or have been playing for a while, check out the rhythms page of their site. There are a growing number of rhythms available for you to listen to and download, and best of all - you can submit your own rhythm for others to listen to and learn. Go on, it's fun!
If you have any questions about the club or want to submit a rhythm or two, then you can always send Bryan an email:
Meanwhile, here's some photo's to give you the idea - photo's used with kind permission from North Yorkshire Didge Club.
