The Gathering 2007 Didgeridoo Festival
Kyle applying style
Kyle Maplesden is a fantastic didge player originally from Canada, now living in the UK. He has spent time learning traditional techniques from aboriginal masters and shares what he has learnt - have a look at his website: kdidj.com. He has a a group called 'Outwood' who are currently putting a new CD together. At the Gathering Kyle performed several tracks and has kindly given permission for one to be made available here.
These next two samples are from the group jamming late in the evening. Invariably one person starts - normally with a didgeridoo, others quickly join in. A plethora of instruments, didgeridoo, drums (several varieties), harmonica, guitar, assorted percussion, and people joining in with throat singing and all sorts. I can't express the fun it is participating in something like the Gathering, it truly is something you will truly remember. It makes me smile when I close my eyes and press on play - takes me back to being there.
Thanks to Mandy for the photos :-)
